Shazia Maree, Information Minister Govt. of Sindh, officially inaugurated the Thalassemia Prevention Program by Omair Sana Foundation (OSF) in a ceremony held at local hotel in Karachi.
OSF has been working not only to support the Thalassaemic children in Pakistan but also to raise the awareness for prevention of the disease.
Speaking at the occasion Asghar Hussain, Member Advisory Board OSF, highlighted the services of OSF over the past few years. Dr. Saqib H. Ansari, General Secretary OSF, talked on aims and objectives of Thalassaemia Prevention Program. He said that we must raise the awareness of prevention measures we should take in order to eradicate the disease from Pakistan.
OSF foundation is offering free of cost blood screening for the families of thalassemic patients and council them in order to prevent marriages between carriers of thalassamia minor and reduce the incidence of thalassemia major. The main objective of Thalassaemia Prevention Program is to eradicate Thalassaemia through research and awareness.
Gen. (Rtd.) Moinuddin Haider (President Thallasaemia Foundation Pakistan), Muhammad Hussain Syed (Secretary Health Sindh), Abdul Qadir (Chief Selector PCB), Shoaib Mohammad (Member Selection Committee PCB), Faisal Iqbal (Test Cricketer), Agha Wasif Abbas (DCO Badin) and Dr. Tahir Shamsi (Vice President OSF) also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Kashif Ansari, President OSF, paid thanks to all the participants for their support in the noble cause of eradicating Thalassaemia from Pakistan.
